Born in Istanbul, 1961, Mr. YILDIRIM started his undergraduate education at Istanbul Technical University Aeronautical Engineering Department and graduated from Berlin Technical University Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He completed his master's degree in the field of Aviation and Space Sciences at Berlin Technical University in 1987. He gave airline management lectures at Kadir Has University for five years. He worked in various airline companies in project consultancy and management positions.

He is the Former Director-General of DHMI, State Airports Authority of Türkiye (2015), and the Former Director-General of Aviation and Space Technologies by Ministry of Transport (2018). He has more than thirty years of experience in aerospace most of which is in aviation.

With a Presidential Decree dated August 7, 2019, Mr. Serdar Hüseyin YILDIRIM was appointed as the first president of Turkish Space Agency. Mr. YILDIRIM is fluent in English and German. He is married with four children.
