Dan Murphy is CNBC’s Anchor and Correspondent based in the United Arab Emirates, reporting on business, markets, economics and geopolitics from across the Middle East region.
Dan’s feature program, CNBC on Assignment, has extensively documented the Middle East’s rise as a global player in the fields of space science research and exploration.
Dan was the first journalist to interview Sarah Al Amiri, UAE Minister of State for Advanced Technology, in the critical final moments of the UAE’s Mars and Hope probe missions in 2021. Dan has also interviewed Emirati astronaut, Hazza Al Mansouri, the first Arab to visit the International Space Station, and the director general of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, Salem Humaid Al Marri, inside the space center’s mission control room.

His coverage of the sector has also focused on space investment and commercialization, privatization, as well as recent global efforts in competition and collaboration.
